Vision The need of increasing the knowledge of the genetic mechanisms which determine Solanaceae diversification and adaptation, has brought the scientific efforts to be gathered into the International Solanaceae (SOL) Genome Project. In order to address key questions risen by the SOL initiative, overwhelming amount of data from different 'omics' approaches are being generated and need to be investigated. Therefore, bioinformatics approaches become preeminent in order to convert raw data into biological meaningful information. ISOL@ is a bioinformatics platform which has been conceived to exploit the information generated from the Tomato Genome Sequencing Project for the analysis of the genome organization, the functionality and the evolution of the entire Solanaceae family. ISOL@ is designed as multi-level computational environment in such a way that the diversity of data sources, the quality of their annotation and the level of details of the information produced can be effectively integrated.
