This database is a collection of tomato EST sequences downloaded from dbEST.
We are committed to update our database at each 5000 increase of ESTs from tomato species at dbEST
(Last release January 2007).

The table below shows the current status of the database:

Gene indices:
Are usually created by grouping overlapping EST sequences into clusters. Each cluster corresponds to a unique gene. A cluster can consist in one or multiple contigs. In the case of a cluster of multiple contigs each contig share similarities with the others in the cluster because of i) putative alternative transcription; ii) paralogy; iii) domain sharing.
Contigs:
Are consensus sequences generated from multiple sequence alignments of ESTs (assembling process).
Singletons:
Are ESTs that are not contained in an assembly. These ESTs during the clustering process did not meet the match criteria (see Processing Protocol) to be clustered with any other EST in the collection of ESTs.
Transcript indices:
Singletons + Contigs.
They represent the total number of predicted transcripts.
